Racers and Future Racers!
SoCal Dirt Karters Arrive and Drive program has been very well-received with many inquiries and new racers joining us for the last few events. We are on pause for the next race on October 11th, but reservations are now being taken for November, so reach out now if you have interest!
We will also be adding cadet kart (8 to 11 yrs) to our lineup of kid karts (5 to 7 yrs) and junior (12 to 15 yrs) to the Kids Arrive & Drive promotion.
We also have Senior karts for rent, so inquire now and get racing!
It was a little bit of everything under the Perris lights for Round 7 of the SoCal Championship Series. The kids kicked things off in style as Jackson Freckleton held steady to top the Kid Kart main, with five-year-old Zeppelin McGill hustling to second and showing he’s more than ready for a bigger grid next time out.
Small Bore Open welcomed the familiar #38 Norm Reynolds back to the top step at the hands of former sprint car shoe Rodney Argo. Argo set the race’s best lap and eased away late to the flag, after taking the lead on lap 7. Last year’s champ, Duane Lawson, returned and immediately looked sharp with P2, while August winner Adam Jones brought it home third. Kevin Martin and Michelle Munoz wrapped the top five after 20 quick laps.
Open Class featured a tidy drive from Tanner Smith, who kept it clean and quick to the checkers for her second victory of the season. Sam Gentry claimed second, with Chris Gibb third. James Randolph was racy all night (he clocked the quickest lap of the race) but settled for fourth after the laps ran out. Mike Collins was an early retiree.
The Outlaw 250s put on a wild one. Cash Culp started last after some heat race issues and made his way to the front early and never let it go of control, sealing the win with the night’s best lap for the class. Jacob Chutuk chased in second, with Marty Wolf third. George Wolf and Jason Beckman completed the top five, while a flurry of mid-race DNFs shuffled the order behind them.
KT-100 delivered the trademark elbows-out action. Points leader Jeremy Drew converted pole pace into the Round 7 victory after fending off a tight pack in the opening half, clinching the championship with two rounds to go. Tyler Bohle finished a strong second, with Scott Bassett third and JJ Ercse fourth. Rodney Argo and Richie Renken were next across the stripe, followed by Nick Argo and Pete Tart. Tony Gomez and Sam Gentry were listed as DNFs, with two DNS rounding out the sheet.
And to close the show, the SoCal Mowers were back and as entertaining as ever. Gary Papps grabbed the win over Brandon Hubbard, with Tyler Barnett third after 15 laps. Joe Paino and Jarrod Groff completed the classified finishers.

Please make sure you have clean tanks, and are using the spec fuel for KT100 which is from either the Chevron station right off the 15 and 74 or 215 and 74. Utilizing Burris Castor or Blend 16:1 ratio. If you are running box stock open, please no exotic nitro etc, we will be checking. We handed out rule books last race they also will be available at the track, or online. Make sure all lead weights are painted white and have your kart number on them. For KT100 engines need to be painted by tech before heat races, you must bring your engine to tech to replace any painted items. Those items will be held thru post tech inspections. 1 driver 1 pit mechanic in post tech. Any questions please bring up in the club meeting.
So Cal Dirt Karters is implementing a pre-race safety tech on all karts, starting this Saturday, 3/29. Once you get unloaded, roll your kart(s), along with safety equipment down through the grid area and our resident safety monitor, Gary Long will check for the basics.
Karts that don’t pass safety tech due to slight infractions will get a “fix it” ticket for our next race.
Egregious safety issues (no chain guards, lead weight held by zip-ties), will need to be an immediate fix.
You can refer to the checklist below for an idea of what will be looked over.
It’s important that everyone complies to safety measures in order to keep racers and fans safe so we can continue growing events at Perris Flat Track

Per the insurance restrictions at the Perris Raceway, all MOTORIZED vehicle riders in the pits MUST wear a helmet. This includes quad, motorcycle and mini-bike riders. This is a strict requirement of Perris Flat Track. Please do not violate this mandate and jeopardize our future at this facility.
Also, all long-hair racers need to secure their hair per the rule book in section 4.6.5:
" If hair extends appreciably from beneath helmet, the competitor must wear a balaclava to retain hair from extending outside helmet. No hair is allowed to be visible when the driver is “race ready”.
No exceptions!
